Default im trying to conceive but i have an abnormal cycle?

i have the weirdest cycle - i can be up to 10 weeks late or come on as early as three weeks after the previous one. we are trying to get pregnant and i have been taking folic acid supplements since february. i was on the pill till last october. last weekend (20/21st june) i felt very sick and giddy and took a test, which was negative. i was due on thursday 25th june. im just getting a bit annoyed and sometimes upset and so is my bf, just wondering what to do now really

Well, first off, you are not going to get pregnant if you are not ovulating, and you can have your period without ovulating. So your first step is to get a ovulation test kit and follow the directions. Most will advise you to start testing on the 11 day of your cycle, which means that day one is the first day you notice bleeding, so start counting from that day and on the eleventh day take a test with your first morning's urine for best results. Take a test each day after that until you get a positive. If for some reason you never get a positive then you will have to see your OB/GYN to find out what you can do, because you are not ovulating.

You and the other poster may have a condition called PCOS which is a common fertility condition that causes irregular / long cycles and not ovulating as frequently. Hard to get pregnant that way. Goto a doctor and get it checked (can get a med called metformin to regulate your cycle if it is that).

Good luck.

Im in the same situation. I went to my doctors and he put me on pro vera 5mg. It helps you regulate your period. I would have me periods for more than 2 weeks. Now that im trying ttc its harder... But just go see your doctor....
