Default I can never seen to get our INTERIOR of the garage bright enough to work in. Can...

...I use a flood light bulb in..? Can I use a floodlight interior bulb in a regular lightbulb socket on the ceiling? It'll probably look silly I know, but can I do that?

You don't want to overheat the fixture. I just use a porcelain fixture and use a 300 watt bulb, it works great. I know exactly how you feel with the dim lights in the garage.I have a 300 watt bulb on each end of my garage on the ceiling and then a 6' fluorescent over the bench. The fixture's are easy and cheap to replace. Most light fixtures are rated for a 60 watt bulb. A flood lamp will only shoot light down in a small area. Good Luck
